Bundle up Minnesotan's, cold weather is on its way.
After an Indian Summer, it appears our warm weather streak is coming to an abrupt end with high in the low 30s, beginning Thursday, November 18. It's amazing what a difference a year makes as last year at this time we were basking in a blanket of snow.

About Adam Jaunich
Adam Jaunich was born and raised in Delano, Minnesota and graduated from Delano Senior High School in 2002.
Jaunich attended St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations, while minoring in Psychology. Jaunich was a member of the Club Hockey organization and served as the team president.
Jaunich is currently employed by Marco Inc. and serves as a technology advisor, providing business-to-business sales for the organization, working the small to medium sized businesses.
In his free time, Jaunich enjoys running, camping, hiking, and playing hockey. Jaunich has completed the Twin Cities Marathon in 2015 and also competed in several 5Ks.

I completed my first Marathon
On October 4, 2015 I participated in the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and completed with a time of 4:20:49. It was my first time participating in a Marathon and my goal all along was just to finish the race, time wasn't my greatest concern, although I was shooting for under 4 hours.
It was the longest continued distance I had ran, my training was limited as the longest stretch run that I had was 11 miles, which took place back in the spring of year.
It was surely a test of fortitude as I approached the 21-mile mark when my leg began to cramp, which I was told all along will likely occur. I hit "the wall", as it's so often coined, but I persevered.
What I remarkable experience, certainly one that I will remember for a lifetime. My family was waiting for me near the finish line and it was a joy to see them, as they have supported my new hobby.
It is definitely not going to be my only marathon. I now know what I need to do to improve my time, train harder.

My Sunday 70-Mile Bike Ride Journey
On Sunday morning I decided to take a long bike riding journey, seventy miles to be exact, probably more, but who's counting.
My journey took me from downtown Minneapolis all the way to Chanhassen, along the southwest metro regional bike trail. The weather was absolutely perfect, it was truly a blessing.
As my healthy living lifestyle has spanned nearly eight months now, I am now in fully marathon training for the next four weeks as a prepare my mind, body, and soul for the Twin Cities Marathon. It will be my fifth competitive race of the year and certainly my longest.
My first week includes four days of interval training, today I will run 12-miles at a normal pace, shooting for 8 minute miles today.
My motto for today: keep your eye on the prize and don't look back.

Athletics punch ticket to state tournament
Welcome back.
For a second straight season the Delano Athletics are returning to the Class C Minnesota state amateur baseball tournament.
The Athletics (21-9) secured a spot to state with a 7-2 win over the Maple Plain Diamond Devils Saturday afternoon in the Region 12C baseball tournament.
Though the Athletics secured a spot in the state tournament, they will continue regional play on Friday, August 14 versus the Howard Lake Orphans at 7:30 p.m. at Delano Municipal Baseball Park. Delano will be playing for state tournament seeding, and will be looking at securing the number one overall seed from the region.
Delano got things started early as they have often this season jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Kevin Jaunich led off with a walk and Toby Hanson singled to right field and Jaunich advanced to third on a hit-and-run. Joey Althoff hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Jaunich from third. John Magee singled to right advancing Hanson to third. Trevor Jaunichsingled to score Hanson.
Delano maintained a 2-0 lead through six innings while starting Athletics pitcher Jake Gleason was cruising and kept the Diamond Devils in check, however, with 2-outs in the top of the sixth inning Maple Plain would rally to tie the game 2-2.
In the bottom of the sixth the Athletics would bounce back to regain the lead with a five run outburst, keyed by a triple byJohn Magee that plated a pair of runs.
Gleason picked up the win for the Athletics on the hill, tossing 6 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on six hits. In relief, Matt Arens returned to the mound after missing four weeks with a upper body injury and was effective. Arens pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up only one hit.
Offensively the Athletics were led by Magee, who finished the game, 3-4 with 2-RBIs.
The state amatuer baseball tournament begins August 21, hosted by Cold Spring and Watkins.
